Theme: Made Me Want to Watch the Anime
This week I have action AMVs that made me want to watch the show they’re about. One of the fun experiences for me is when you find an AMV focusing on an anime you’ve never seen and it draws you in. Arranged vaguely in order of music speed and vibes. As always, visual spoilers may be present.
The sync to the music on this one is absolutely delightful, it really works great. The choice of music is perfect for the little editorial flourishes. The entire atmosphere of the amv is great too, really sells whatever is going on with these sword lesbians without giving the game away completely.
A fun fact about the late 2010’s AMV scene: The Greatest Showman was pretty popular. The editing choices here are appropriately dramatic and joyful which is really fun. I love the inclusion of the giraffe, I’m not sure what his deal is in the show but he’s well utilized here. This really feels like a love letter to the joys of performance.
Women cutting zombie heads off with knife shoes! Explosions! Metal song! This one’s really fun action. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress has a reputation for cool-looking steampunk action (to the alleged detriment of story) and this amv definitely sells how much fun that cool-looking steampunk action can be. It’s hard not to tap my foot along to the well-edited zombie killing of this amv!
